Gear Review: Badlands Flex Gloves (in Approach Camouflage)

Hunters are very particular about covering their hands and protecting them, for good reason. We want them warm, but also be ready to squeeze the trigger or take a photo in the field. In my years of hunting, I have utilized many different brands and styles of hunting gloves. Recently, I had the opportunity to use and abuse the Badlands Flex Gloves during wet mornings, hot afternoons, and crawling through the woods while turkey hunting.

My main challenge in finding a quality hunting glove I like is first finding one that fits. That seems fairly obvious, but allow me to go a bit further with this. Sometimes I find gloves that fit my fingers, but are usually loose on the wrists, or they are a litle more bulky than I like. The other gloves I find that fit my palm and wrist, but my fingers are loose inside. There are challenges like this regularly and normally I just use what I can, but I found the Badlands Flex Gloves fit perfectly as they have a flex-poly design that conforms to your hand and provides a snug fit all around.

First off, these will go on a little different at first, due to the snug fit. That being said, once you figure out the best way to get them on, it’ll be a breeze after that. I own a few different pair of Badlands gloves and these have become my favorite for early and mid-season bowhunting and turkey hunting. I crawled around on the ground while hunting turkey and the palm material is thin enough to flex well, but the branches didn’t puncture through. In fact, I tried to get the branches to poke through by putting all of my weight down while crawling. The gloves won.

Believe it or not, you can actually manipulate smart phone buttons with these. Whether you need to snap a quick photo or reply to a text, you can. The texting is a bit of a challenge as these are slightly bulky on the finger tip, but they function very well. I was able to take photos and text while hunting turkey in Georgia. There were a few times I did remove the glove to send a more detailed text because I wasn’t able to hit the right buttons with the gloves on. Maybe I need more practice as an influencer. #No

My index finger had this little bump on the edge that could be adjusted for a better fit.

The only issue I have with the Flex Gloves is the index finger design and sewing. I feel it could be adjusted a bit to allow less Approach camo material and a little more of the leather. Where the two meet, a little bump is formed and I found it got in the way (albeit minimal) of the trigger guard on my shotgun. Honestly, it did feel wierd, too. I feel that moving it a quarter inch would also benefit when shooting my bow. This would give more clearance with my release trigger and eliminate the bump. But seriously, that is the only issue I had.

Normally, gloves fit me a little small or slightly bigger than my hand. I guess you could say my hand is in-between sizes of a medium and a large, due to the brand. The Badlands Flex Glove (size large) fit me perfectly due to the contruction and material. These are the best early and mid-season gloves I have used. When deer season rolls around, I can almost guarantee I’ll be wearing these on most of my hunts. That way I can keep my hands covered and get mad selfies in the field while the deer walk right on by. In all seriousness, these will be great for hunting in the SoCal heat, too.

The Badlands Flex Gloves are undeniably comfortable, function very well and took a beating in the field. I would highly recommend these to anyone looking for top quality gloves that fit like Spandex. Not that I have ever worn such a thing. The Badlands Flex Gloves cost $49.99 a pair and they, like all Badlands gear, fall under the lifetime, unconditionaly warranty. Overall, these are a must have for serious hunters.
