The Drury’s Make the Switch

Excitement is in the air! Things have shifted in the bowhunting world, but not in the way that you might think. Yesterday, it was announced on the Deer Cast podcast that Drury Outdoors has parted ways with PSE and has teamed up with none other than Mathews Archery. I am stoked for their partnership!

For those who listened to the podcast, or watched the video (like I did), I noticed a few things. Everyone was extremely calm and focused. This was well thought out. I encourage you to watch the full video. When Matt lifted up the Mathews bow, I noticed something else attached to it. The sight was an HHA Tetra, so did Team Drury make that switch as well? If so, I like what I see!

The Quackenbush family has enjoyed following Drury Outdoors for years. Mainly because we also love to hunt whitetails and we love the family banter. It reminds me of home! I may have moved to California fourteen years ago, but I’ve been following and learning from the Drury’s since high school. Yes, it’s been two (or three)…decades (Sorry Mark and Terry!). There’s no lack of excitement when Fall rolls around, even when I’m 3,000 miles away from my family. We crack jokes, share stories, and get excited when whitetail season comes around! We live and breathe it. There’s a time to goof around and there’s a time to hunt, just like another family I know.

With the announcement (and after reading plenty of comments on social media), here are my thoughts. Good for Terry, Mark, Matt, and Taylor and the rest of Drury Outdoors! Before all you keyboard cowboys get all worked up and start saying it’s all about money, listen to the podcast as to why they parted ways. From what I have seen, PSE has been shifting their focus recently and I support that. In my opinion, they are looking globally and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Kudos to them. Mathews has been branching out to more western hunters, along with the die-hard whitetail hunters. I fully support that, too! 2020 marks the year I made the switch to Mathews as well, so at least there is some good to have come out of this year!

The Drury/Mathews partnership is a great change. I wish nothing but the best for both Drury Outdoors and Mathews in their new venture together, and rest assured, I’ll be following closely as I am excited to see what they produce together in the future.
